The vital ingredient for happiness is ...

... connecting to your inner truth.

"I cried - silently - all night before my big birthday. I couldn't understand what was wrong with me. My life looked fine, really. I thought I should be happy. I thought I was just being silly and selfish. But looking back now I realise I was lonely and desperate and cut off from my true feelings."

We disconnect from our own unique deep nature because the truth feels too painful to bear.  We think we're powerless to change things, so we gag the messenger.

The courageous first step to happiness, as a way of being, is to begin to listen to your own inner truth.  Once you begin to do that, all kinds of good things will begin to open up for you.
